The Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NCCI) in collaboration with the NIPDB on Friday hosted the Shanghai–Namibia Business Exchange in Windhoek, bringing together Namibian business leaders and a delegation from the Shanghai Federation of Industry and Commerce (SFIC) for discussions on trade, investment and industrial cooperation.
The engagement provided a platform to explore business and investment opportunities in agriculture, agro-processing, manufacturing, mining, logistics, renewable energy and technology, while promoting direct partnerships between Namibian and Chinese enterprises. Discussions highlighted opportunities for technology transfer, skills development, market access and investment that support Namibia's industrialisation and economic diversification objectives.
A key outcome of the exchange was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between NCCI and SFIC, establishing a framework for long-term cooperation, business exchanges, information sharing and investment promotion across strategic sectors.
Speaking at the event, NCCI Windhoek Vice Chairperson, Mr. Jose Mathews, emphasised the importance of converting dialogue into tangible business opportunities that strengthen local production, enhance industrial capacity and create sustainable economic growth. Mr. Wang Jianming of SFIC reaffirmed the longstanding friendship between Namibia and China and encouraged enterprises from both countries to pursue practical commercial partnerships. He also noted that the upcoming State Visit to China by the President of the Republic of Namibia, H.E. Dr. Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, presents an important opportunity to further deepen bilateral trade and investment relations.
The Business Exchange underscores Namibia's growing appeal as an investment destination and reflects the shared commitment of NIPDB, NCCI and SFIC to fostering partnerships that drive investment, industrialisation, value addition and inclusive economic growth.
