Rare Earth Elements Mining And Processing
Proposition
Sector: Mining and Adjacent Sectors
Sub-Sector: Mineral Beneficiation and Processing
Abstract
Namibia offers a compelling investment environment underpinned by political stability, rich mineral resources, and a commitment to sustainable economic development. The country’s mining sector has long been a cornerstone of the economy, contributing over 10% to GDP and more than half of total export earnings. Namibia is globally recognised for its uranium, diamonds, copper, and gold deposits. It is now emerging as a promising source of critical minerals such as lithium and rare earth elements (REEs), essential to the global green energy transition.
Value Proposition
Establishing a Rare Earth Elements (REE) processing facility in Namibia presents a strong value proposition by leveraging the country’s rich mineral endowment, political stability, and strategic trade access through SADC, SACU, and the EU Economic Partnership Agreement. With increasing global demand for critical minerals to power electric vehicles, wind turbines, and green technologies, Namibia offers an ideal launchpad for responsible, high-value mineral processing.
