Five-Year Employment Permit Strengthens Namibia’s Investor Experience
Namibia has taken another important step towards creating a more predictable and enabling environment for investors with the introduction of the five-year Employment Permit to Conduct a Business, effective 1 September 2026.
The permit provides qualifying investors with greater certainty and continuity to establish, operate and grow their businesses in Namibia, reinforcing national efforts to improve the investor experience and ease of doing business.
Under the new arrangement, NIPDB serves as the first point of submission for qualifying investor applications. The Board confirms investor status and undertakes the required economic evaluation and impact assessment before applications proceed to the relevant immigration authorities for consideration.
This intervention is a practical expression of NIPDB’s investment facilitation mandate and demonstrates the value of inter-agency collaboration in addressing investor constraints and creating more coordinated and responsive government processes.
For NIPDB, investment promotion extends beyond attracting investors. It encompasses the entire investor journey, from attraction and establishment to facilitation, aftercare and expansion. The five-year permit therefore represents another important step towards ensuring that credible investors can operate with greater certainty while contributing to investment, employment creation and Namibia’s broader economic development.
